This is a mid-level technical position responsible for maintaining the health, performance, and reliability of IT systems across the Clark County School District. The NOC Systems Administrator plays a critical role in monitoring infrastructure, responding to alerts, resolving tickets, and supporting day-to-day operations for teachers, staff, administrators, and students. This role requires strong communication, documentation, and coordination skills to work effectively within a collaborative environment. In addition to system and network oversight, the NOC Systems Administrator is expected to stay aligned with district policies and provide frontline support via email, MS Teams, and ticketing platforms.

  • Manage the Linux operating systems and installed applications in support of the Network Operating Center
  • Monitor and control infrastructure, including local and wide area networks
  • Monitor the health and performance of networks, and systems using network operations tools
  • Respond to alerts and incidents, performing initial triage, resolution, or escalation as needed
  • Act as first responder to issues with Linux servers hosted on VMware hypervisors
  • Troubleshoot SQL databases and write SQL queries, statements and scripts
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing scripts written in BASH, Perl, and Python
  • Conduct daily system health checks and routine log reviews to ensure uptime and availability
  • Identify abnormal device behavior and ensure proper ticket generation
  • Provide technical support and system access assistance through email, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and ticketing platforms
  • Support patching, backup verification, and routine maintenance tasks as scheduled
  • Participate in the implementation of system installations and ensure network connectivity
  • Ensure adherence to IT policies and security standards
  • Assist or Perform security analysis tasks
  • Perform configuration compliance activities
  • Perform configuration comparison activities
  • Implementing new data collection routines as needed (mcache tables, routing tables, etc.)
  • Assist customer in performing or validating project completion status
  • Supply on-demand results for queries involving code-version, boot-image, mfg/model roster sizes, etc.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a NOC or systems/network administration environment
  • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting Windows and/or Linux servers in a VMware or Hyper-V environment
  • 4 years of experience with Ubuntu; Unix and Unix variants: CentOS / RedHat, Debian, or SUSE
  • Familiarity with Linux systems management, configuration, product installation, command line environment, and shell scripting
  • Programming experience with Perl, PHP and Python
  • Experience with SQL products, tools, and query syntax for adhoc reporting
  • Familiarity with design principles for local area networks, switching and routing protocols, Wi-Fi technology, network testing tools, IP addressing and subnet schemes, and Voice over IP routing
  • Experience configuring and maintaining IT infrastructure monitoring systems (Icinga, Grafana, Nagios, OpenNMS, Cacti, Apache, Oxidized/Rancid)
  • Experience with TCP/IP fundamentals and OSPF/BGP routing protocol concepts
  • Experience responding to system alerts, outages, and performance degradation in real time
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and escalation skills
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent certifications preferred
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a background check as required by the school district and applicable state regulations.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CCNA Route and Switch, CCNA Wireless
  • Linux+, RHCSA/RHCE, or LPI certifications are preferable
  • Microsoft (MCSA) Certification is a plus
