Swissport is in the process of reshaping our organization to better support our business, partners, and customers. We are now looking for an Environmental Manager in North America who will be part of the QHSE team and will deliver and implement policies and procedures to enable compliance with ISO 14001 across Swissport North America. The expected pay rate is $85,000/yearly. Requirements

  • +5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of EPA, FAA, Transport Canada, state/provincial, and local environmental regulations, including SPCC, stormwater permits, hazardous waste, air emissions, and chemical management.
  • Strong experience with ISO 14001 implementation & auditing (preferred)
  • Advanced technical skills in Excel
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is a must
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively meeting demanding deadlines
  • High-energy with a proactive approach; willingness to be hands-on and dig into the details.
  • Experience managing environmental aspects of ground handling activities such as fuel and oil handling, deicing/anti-icing fluids, GSE emissions, spill prevention and response, waste management, and noise exposure.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Environmental Manager (CEM), HAZWOPER, spill response training, and familiarity with IATA AHM/IGOM environmental elements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and implement policies and procedures to enable compliance with ISO 14001 across Swissport North America
  • Lead the implementation of environmental policies and strategies across Swissport North America with the focus on having common policies and procedures across all jurisdictions that are aligned and compliment other company procedures
  • Provide regular reporting to demonstrate compliance with environmental regulations
  • Monitor developments in environmental legislation to ensure ongoing compliance with international regulation and legislation across all Swissport’s jurisdictions
  • Maintain the Environmental Management System in compliance with ISO 14001 requirements
  • Measure and monitor the environmental data and contribute to successful ISO14001 assurance
  • Provide expertise and develop procedures for hazardous materials, waste, water and biodiversity management
  • Collaborate with the training team and develop appropriate environmental training for all Swissport colleagues
  • Collaborate with third party contractors to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled
  • Deliver environmental health and safety activities, including emergency response plan, incident and accident management, training implementation and evacuation drill
  • Design and coordinate EHS initiatives and campaigns across all sites
  • Audit all lines of business providing guidance, education, and influential coaching during station visits
  • Audit company facilities and workforce in the assigned region
  • Work with stations directly to ensure effectivity of corrective actions for all audit findings or external commitments
  • Act as business expert on environmental issues with a clear understanding of industry best practices, news, innovations and developments and communicate these regularly to respective stakeholders
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments to estimate the probability of an adverse outcome of environmental changes and determine ways to remediate or remove environmental stressors
  • Provide expertise and develop procedures for hazardous materials, waste, water and biodiversity management
  • Maintain an environmental risk register with associated mitigation plans.
