About The Position

The New Market Tax Credit Loan Officer will service and maintain a portfolio of a variety of commercial loan accounts but will  focus on New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) loan programs.  Interview, assess and analyze prospective loan clients and their financial position.  Establish new business loans and deposit prospects through sales calls, networking and referral base.  Grant new loans according to bank guidelines and loan policy.

Requirements

  • College degree in business related field or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience with government loan programs and NMTC program
  • Previous financial industry experience required.
  • Strong sales skill set.
  • Previous credit experience required.
  • Comprehensive skill set in the use of the following software applications: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • NMTC/Commercial loan experience required, as follows: Level 1 = Five (5) years.
  • Level 2 = Ten (10) yrs

Responsibilities

  • With guidance/oversight of Director of Strategic Lending, responsible for deployment of any NMTC allocation awards.
  • Collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the credit worthiness of the borrower within the parameters of the bank’s loan policies. Establishes and negotiates the terms under which credit will be granted to comply with loan underwriting guidelines.
  • Solicits business from new & existing customers; actively seeks out, identifies and solicits NMTC and commercial loan business consistent with the bank’s objectives to increase the NMTC and commercial loan portfolio.
  • Oversees weekly closing calls for NMTC projects and ensures proper loan documentation is executed at closing in line with bank policies and NMTC compliance.
  • Manages individual loan portfolios including annual reviews, renewals, problem loan monitoring, and NMTC compliance.
  • Reviews existing loan portfolio for documentation exceptions and periodic financial statements.
  • Provide support on annual NMTC application writing, review and submission to CDFI Fund.
  • Refer clients and prospects to ancillary services as appropriate, including Treasury Management, Personal Banking, and Mortgage.
  • Performs other responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
