About The Position

Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as the Northeastern Junior College Incoming Freshman Student Success Coach. The incoming student success coach's primary focus is on students expressing interest in attending NJC, assisting them with the registration process and generating their first term course schedule. In addition, the incoming student success coach assists the registrar and financial aid offices. The position has a strong customer service basis, helping new students who are unfamiliar with higher education processes to comfortably start their college career. Additionally, the position is responsible for maintaining the EAB Navigate Academic Templates, which is a critical part of freshman registration. Requirements

  • Strong communications, including precise writing skills and verbal communications.
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office products (Word and Excel) required.
  • Self-starter, willing to do independent research on EAB systems and Navigate Positive customer service for incoming students
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university
  • Experience in education advising, counseling or administration
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Understand NJC program offerings and associated curriculum for freshman advising.
  • Ensure NJC programs and catalog information is accurate in EAB Navigate and serve as the NJC subject matter expert for EAB Navigate training.
  • Serve as the primary contact for incoming freshman in the registration and academic advising process for developing course schedules.
  • Coach students through course selection on EAB Navigate to develop their first term schedule.
  • Assist Athletic Coaches with new student registration and advising, including course selection in EAB Navigate.
  • Participate in registration day and key recruiting events to streamline student registration.
  • Coordinate with Deans, Department Chairs, and faculty to balance student demand with courses offered, and make recommendations to the Vice President of Academic Affairs regarding scheduling and course size limits which affect student selection.
  • Assist the college in developing guided pathways where appropriate.
  • In partnership with the Financial Aid Office, support the reporting for Veteran's Administration certification.
  • Assist the registrar's office with running the CPOS report weekly.
