About The Position
As a Women's Technical Designer/Patternmaker at Perry Ellis International, you will play a crucial role in the development of high-quality swimwear. Your primary responsibility will be to create and maintain all types of patterns for assigned styles and categories, ensuring that each piece meets the company's high standards for fit and construction. You will work closely with the Sewing team to determine the best garment construction methods, creating mock-ups and examples that will guide both internal and external production processes. Collaboration with the Design and Merchandising teams will be essential as you strive to achieve and maintain appropriate fit approvals for your assigned styles or categories. In addition to pattern creation, you will be responsible for building and maintaining technical specifications, which include details such as Bill of Materials (BOM), construction details, measurements, cutting instructions, packaging, and associated technical images. Meeting deadlines is critical, as you will need to complete and release patterns and specifications to the appropriate recipients in a timely manner. You will also provide soft goods, such as prototype garments and construction mock-ups, to relevant stakeholders. Monitoring the progress of Fit samples, Size Set samples, and Pre Production samples will be part of your duties, as you evaluate these samples for fit, measurement, and construction accuracy. Your feedback will be vital, as you will provide approval or rejection comments to ensure that all products meet the required standards. Additionally, you will offer pattern and technical guidance to team members and provide the Design and Merchandising teams with construction options that promote cost efficiency. Your role may also involve participating in special projects and assignments as needed, contributing to the continuous improvement of established technical design and product creation processes.
