About The Position

Yulista Contract Services LLC Regular PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Night Watchman ensures security of personnel and vessel while in port. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Monitors Quarter Deck for authorized entry of personnel and visitors. Checks required forms of identification and verify against vessel access list • Makes sound and security rounds throughout vessel following a predetermined schedule and prescribed route • Remains vigilant for any unusual conditions. Reports inconsistencies immediately to commanding officer • Monitors and records vessel machinery conditions. Ensures they are functioning and maintained in accordance with original equipment manufacturers recommendations • Protects government equipment and assets • Answers and responds appropriately to any alarm conditions such as fire or flooding • Takes vessel draft readings. Reads visual markings on vessel hull and compare those readings against previous records • Assists other crew members to protect vessel against flooding take appropriate proactive measure once per watch • Assists vessel with getting underway and returning from sea. Physically removes the gangway from the vessel and cast off catch lines as directed • Night Watchman will be required to perform Line Handler duties when the vessel gets underway or returns to port outside normal working hours • Monitors weather conditions, checks mooring lines and adds as necessary • Places ship on or off shore or generator power in accordance with engineering operating and sequencing procedures • The Night Watchman may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization and vessel SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Beginner computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred
  • Ability to understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to generate routine reports and correspondence
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members
  • Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
  • Ability to follow a process.
  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
  • Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.
  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance

  • Prior maritime, military, security or mechanical background preferred
