About The Position

The Night Sign Patroller is responsible for driving around a specified geographic area to locate and report sign/lighting outages or other service issues. This role involves performing essential duties such as surveying repair and service needs of sign and lighting components, documenting outages, locating signs on an area map, estimating the size and characteristics of outages, and reporting findings to the supervisor. The position requires planning the best traveling routes to ensure the area is fully surveyed while maintaining records and logbooks. Additionally, the patroller may assist the Night Patrol Supervisor with various duties, draw maps for technicians, and deliver parts as necessary.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education or up to one-month related sign project experience or training.
  • Must have a state-issued driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to drive an automobile.
  • Ability to communicate in person.
  • Ability to see from a distance.

Responsibilities

  • Drive an automobile around a predetermined route to survey the repair and service needs of sign and lighting components.
  • Document outages by taking pictures and notating other details per established procedures.
  • Locate signs on an area map and determine sign and lighting outage locations.
  • Estimate size and characteristics of outages or service issues and report findings to supervisor.
  • Relay information to other interested departments, store managers, and/or owners.
  • Determine and plan best traveling routes for efficient surveying.
  • Maintain records and logbooks.
  • Perform cleaning, preventative, and operator maintenance on company vehicles.
