About The Position

The Night Shift Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading all warehouse and logistics operations during off-shift hours to ensure uninterrupted material flow, inventory integrity, safety compliance, and operational readiness for day-shift execution. This role serves as the primary onsite warehouse authority overnight, operating with a high degree of independence and accountability. The Night Shift Warehouse Manager ensures materials are accurately staged and available for production, inbound and outbound logistics are executed correctly, and warehouse standards for safety, food safety, and system discipline are consistently upheld. This position requires a strong floor presence, data-driven decision-making, and proactive leadership to support production continuity, customer service levels, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or related field; or 5+ years equivalent experience in logistics and warehouse management within food manufacturing or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation management, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience managing ERP/WMS systems for inventory and shipping processes.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration and vendor negotiations.
  • Ability to manage budgets, meet deadlines, and deliver against performance targets.
  • At least one year experience operating Sit-down, Stand-up Forklift / PIT in hot and cold enviroments.
  • Proficient with computers, including use of scanners, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and WMS (SAP, BC, NetSuite, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all warehouse operations during night shift, including shipping, receiving, inventory movements, material staging, internal transfers, and yard coordination.
  • Lead night-shift warehouse staff including forklift drivers, inventory personnel, and shipping/receiving team members.
  • Ensure materials are accurately staged, scanned, labeled, and prepared to support overnight and early-morning production requirements.
  • Maintain warehouse organization, housekeeping, and safety standards throughout off-shift hours.
  • Ensure docks, equipment, trailers, and staging areas are prepared for a smooth transition to day-shift operations.
  • Execute ERP transactions independently, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, work orders, and staging activities.
  • Perform spot checks and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy overnight.
  • Identify, investigate, and document inventory discrepancies, shortages, or system issues.
  • Ensure strict adherence to FIFO, lot control, allergen segregation, labeling, and traceability requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory visibility and communicate risks or discrepancies proactively.
  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics occurring during night shift hours, including live loads, drop trailers, and yard moves.
  • Coordinate carrier arrivals, dock assignments, trailer movements, and shipping/receiving documentation.
  • Verify transportation paperwork for accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to handoff.
  • Communicate shipment status, delays, exceptions, or service issues clearly to Supply Chain and day-shift leadership.
  • Enforce compliance with OSHA, GMP, Food Safety, and company policies during night-shift operations.
  • Conduct routine safety walks, equipment checks, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Address unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately and document incidents thoroughly.
  • Maintain audit-ready conditions despite limited onsite leadership presence.
  • Serve as the primary onsite authority for safety and compliance during off-shift hours.
  • Act as the lead decision-maker overnight, resolving operational issues in real time with minimal supervision.
  • Respond to urgent production support needs, inventory issues, staffing gaps, or transportation challenges.
  • Escalate critical issues appropriately while maintaining business continuity.
  • Provide clear, detailed, and actionable shift-to-shift handoff communication to day-shift leadership.
  • Lead, coach, and develop night-shift warehouse staff through hands-on leadership and visibility.
  • Reinforce standard work, safety expectations, ERP discipline, and performance accountability.
  • Address performance, attendance, and conduct issues in alignment with company policy.
  • Ensure all team members are trained on SOPs, food safety, safety requirements, and system processes.
  • Foster engagement, ownership, and accountability within the night-shift team.
  • Own and maintain warehouse SOPs, work instructions, training records, and audit documentation.
  • Complete required warehouse documentation, logs, reports, and system updates accurately and on time.
  • Document incidents, discrepancies, corrective actions, and operational challenges clearly.
  • Ensure all relevant information is communicated effectively to day-shift leadership to support continuity and follow-up.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all warehouse performance reporting.
  • Maintain continuous readiness for internal and external audits
  • Identify opportunities to improve off-shift workflows, staging practices, inventory accuracy, and safety performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and standardization efforts across shifts.
  • Support ERP enhancements, automation efforts, and warehouse optimization projects
  • Provide feedback and insights to leadership on off-shift risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for warehouse-related issues during night shift hours.
  • Lead and support investigations into inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, safety incidents, and service failures.
  • Ensure issues are resolved, documented, and communicated clearly to stakeholders.
