Position Overview This position is located at our Conover, NC manufacturing plant and reports to the production supervisor. The Chemical Feed Operator/Control Room Operator plays a critical role in our manufacturing processes with responsibility of monitoring and making required adjustments to ensure the production lines are operating safely, producing quality wood fiber product and meeting efficiency targets. A typical day as a Chemical Feed Operator is spent half working in the control room and half working on the production floor which includes working at heights and in confined space. This position will train on day shift, once training is complete this position will permanently be a night shift position working 6p-6:30am.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
  • Ability to think critically and communicate effectively
  • Technical Aptitude
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • The individual possesses fine hand manipulation (keyboarding) skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to the noise level of a manufacturing setting, which is usually moderate to heavy.
  • The temperature will vary from hot to cold, depending on the weather.

Responsibilities

  • Perform plant start-ups, sku change overs and shutdowns as required
  • Oversee the flow of the production line from start to finish via touch screen computers and physical checks of the production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and make adjustments to production equipment as needed.
  • Quality control checks
  • Operate a forklift, enter confined space and work at heights as needed.
  • Assist floor personnel when needed or directed by Supervisor
  • Perform additional duties as required.
