About the position

Quad is seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Hartford, WI CR/T location. This individual will be responsible for quality control and color matching of printing inks and raw materials. Quality control testing includes the measurement of physical properties using instrumentation as well as the visual assessment of color. Other testing of related materials (solvents, powders, and resins) along with printed material and substrates using non-routine equipment/instrumentation is also required as needed. The wage range is $20.00 - $25.00 / hour depending on experience. The hours for this position are M-W, working 7 pm - 7 am.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality control and color matching of printing inks and raw materials.
  • Perform quality control testing including measurement of physical properties using instrumentation.
  • Assess color visually and complete the Munsell color test.
  • Test related materials such as solvents, powders, and resins.
  • Use non-routine equipment/instrumentation as needed.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain organization and tidiness in the laboratory/office environment.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree in Chemistry, Quality Control, or a comparable field of science.
  • Work experience in the ink, paint, or other materials industry with a high level of technical knowledge.
  • Experience using good general laboratory practices for weighing, mixing, testing, and replication.
  • Basic working knowledge of chemistry and statistics.
  • Working knowledge of algebra and arithmetic for mixed composition and formulation work.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, including calculations and plots.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access).
  • Ability to see and assess color.
  • Comfortable using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and working with a variety of chemicals.
  • Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
