We are passionate about what we do and delight in providing excellent programs that make permanent, positive changes in the lives of those we serve. Our programs are designed to equip our clients with the vision, motivation, life skills, education, and self-discipline necessary to lead a successful life. Welcome! My name is Tammy Mayo, and I am the HR Manager for Forest Ridge, a Residential Treatment Facility located just outside of Estherville, in Northwest Iowa. I am looking for people who care about helping high-risk kids make real changes in their lives. Our students are working through issues such as aggression, substance abuse, sexual exploitation in commercial sex trafficking, and what life could look like outside of gang involvement. Our Night Shift Youth Counselors work from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Our students need you to be a Solid Object. Someone who shows up every day, ready and willing to help them. You don’t bring drama or your own personal issues to work. You will hold them accountable when they don’t want you to, and you’ll forgive them when they mess up. You are able to remain calm in stressful situations and are able to think clearly and trust your training, always focused on their treatment and moving them forward in their program. You are committed to making a difference. Each student who successfully completes their treatment program has the ability to improve not only themselves, but positively affect their family, their peer group and their community. If you watch the news and wonder, “What can I possibly do?” This is it. I care deeply about this outcome and I hope you do too. Our Night Youth Counselors provide direct care and supervision to young women ages 13 to 18. You will be an essential member of a team of professionals committed to helping our students bring forth real, positive changes in their lives. It is important that you are a patient person. We know that trauma and learned, protective behaviors are difficult to bring to the surface where they can be dealt with. In our setting patience means you are willing to have the same conversation, help them through the same situations several times over until they are able to move forward. Everything you do here matters; your presence, your patience, your character, and your professionalism. This field of work may not be your intended lifetime career, but I can promise it will positively influence your future career. This work and our students will change you. If you are #readytowork come join our team, we can’t wait to meet you!
