About The Position

ROLE: Responsible for making sure campus is secure and safe for all residents and staff and responding to the maintenance requests of residents and staff during the overnight hours. This needs to be accomplished while following safety protocol and state and federal regulations.

  • Adherence to the Guiding Principle, Operational Practices, Corporate Compliance and Standards of Care.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to use power tool equipment.
  • Valid Kansas Driver’s license required.
  • Enthusiasm, courtesy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well with others to achieve desired outcomes.
  • General knowledge of the building/construction industry.
  • Mechanical knowledge and abilities.
  • Critical thinking/problem solving.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, and bending, as well as occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of similar or related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Night security and general maintenance
  • Maintain relevant communication with Supervisor and Director of EVS.
  • May have interactions with future/current residents; maintain pleasant interactions.
  • Available to do minor repairs.
  • Use and record work in the “Worxhub” platform.
  • Respond to resident and staff requests or report them to the daytime maintenance staff.
  • Monitor the heating and cooling temperatures and adjust as needed.
  • Lock exterior and commons doors in the Sunnydell apartments and test door alarms.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as instructed.
  • Report immediate maintenance needs that you are unable to do to the maintenance supervisor that is on call.
  • Vacuum the carpet as scheduled.
  • Be on watch in the event of stormy weather and help prepare facility for event.
  • Complete all work requests in a timely manner and communicate completion timeframe in Worxhub.
  • Assist with heating and air-conditioning systems including light pilots, adjust thermostats, change boiler-chiller from heating to cooling or vice versa, and respond to HVAC systems that aren’t working.
  • Clean commercial hoods and filters.
  • Trouble shoot on appliances not working including washers, dryers, refrigerators, ice machines, ranges, dishwashers, garbage disposals, etc.
  • Trouble shoot on electronic equipment including nurse call system, phones, TV’s, alarm systems, fire alarms, security systems, etc.
  • Monitor and repair as able electrical equipment and plumbing systems. Notify on call supervisor for assistance and document work in Worxhub. Call supervisor immediately in case of an emergency.
  • Repair or replace locks as needed.
  • Maintain and repair furniture as needed.
  • Repair and lubricate wheelchairs, lifts, beds, carts, etc.
  • Conducts night time fire drills and understands fire systems.
  • Use cell phone to communicate with department and other staff.
  • Perform required maintenance tasks within department safety guidelines and within mfc policy and procedure.
  • Safely operate MFC vehicles, including maintenance carts, maintenance trucks, etc. when picking up supplies or performing tasks around campus.
  • Follow all safety precautions and report any incidents immediately to supervisor.
  • Assist with snow removal as needed.
  • Assists with transporting residents using mfc vehicles and/or buses if necessary. (CPR training will be provided).
  • Assist with emergency operation plan during emergency/disaster situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
