About The Position

Perform entry-level maintenance and repair duties to support building operations at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station. As DAWSONs General Maintenance Worker I, you will assist with basic facility upkeep and repair tasks under the supervision of senior maintenance personnel, helping ensure buildings and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and presentable.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 year of recent experience (within past 5 years) in building maintenance or similar support role.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and standard maintenance practices.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced maintenance staff.
• Ability to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied environments.
• Must be able to obtain a favorable adjudication via a DHS background investigation and maintain suitability clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.
• This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles. If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid drivers license in good standing is a condition of employment. If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicle use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws. If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles. If operating Company-provided vehicles, you must immediately notify the Company if your drivers license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if your driving privileges otherwise change.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing basic maintenance tasks including minor repairs to fixtures, walls, doors, and hardware.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of mechanical rooms, tool storage, and service areas.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters as directed.
• Support maintenance team with tools, materials, and project setup.
• Report observed facility issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols and site procedures in accordance with PWS Section C-5.B and OSHA standards.
• Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and supplies in assigned work areas.
• Perform night fire watch and response duties including determining the reason for the alarm.
• Respond to any fire panel alarm within the required time when called.
• Be able to silence the alarm and return the system to full function by silencing the alarm.
• Report any issues/problems to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor if system needs to be serviced immediately due to a fault that cannot be fixed by silencing or if a system error/malfunction that requires immediate correction.
