About The Position

The Night Dispatcher at TDS Logistics plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient transportation operations during night shifts. This position involves scheduling and dispatching drivers, maintaining communication with them, and managing transportation processes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess experience in port drayage operations, particularly in the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach.

Requirements

• Strong dispatching skills.
• Excellent communication and phone etiquette.
• Proficient in typing and data entry.
• Knowledge of GPS technologies.
• Ability to operate multi-line phone systems.
• Experience with transportation management systems (preferably V-intermodal).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and dispatch drivers using transportation management systems (V-intermodal preferred).
• Communicate with drivers via calls and text messaging for timely updates.
• Ensure accurate and timely data entry in TMS (V-intermodal).
• Collaborate with Dispatchers and Customer Service teams to resolve issues.
• Monitor containers to avoid per diem charges and ensure timely returns.
• Optimize dispatch operations to reduce extra costs and increase productivity.
• Keep dispatch systems updated with real-time, accurate information.
• Maintain detailed notes on equipment moves (chassis/container).
• Use port and terminal websites/tools to track import/export container statuses.
• Schedule appointments with ports and terminals when necessary.
• Provide daily shift updates to Managers/CSRs, including recap reports.
• Respond to emails professionally and promptly.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
