DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service & Sales Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and friendly service. Assist customers with product suggestions. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, intercom announcements, and one-on-one interactions. Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and escalate to Store Director as needed. Operations & Merchandising Plan nightly operations and monitor production processes following company procedures and profitability goals. Build grocery displays, rotate stock, and discard outdated or spoiled products. Ensure cleanliness of work area and department. Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays; assist with coordinating grocery sales promotions. Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, displayed, and shelves are clean and properly maintained. Follow and maintain department standards and requirements. Inventory & Stock Management Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness. Maintain inventory levels according to division directives. Stock and rotate products; supervise processing of reclamation. Maintain orderly and in-stock conditions in back room and all grocery department areas. Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department. Team Leadership Monitor employee productivity. Supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. Train employees in store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures. Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening/closing duties, dairy, and frozen. Compliance & Standards Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Ensure compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code dating requirements. Maintain proper temperature levels for all products. Administrative & Reporting Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and other required paperwork. Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records. Assist with physical inventory every 6 months. Control shrink and cost. Receiving & Equipment Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating products. Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques. Implement correct product preparation techniques. Operate related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machine.
