About The Position

Ann Arbor Hotel has an opening for a full-time Night Auditor. This is an overnight position, typically working 11:00pm - 7:00am. Flexible days available. Must be self-motivated. The Night Auditor will provide prompt and courteous service to guests while processing all payments and maintaining accuracy of guest accounts. Responsibilities include greeting customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome, using a positive and clear speaking voice, listening to and understanding requests, and responding with appropriate action. The role also involves fielding guest complaints, conducting research, developing effective solutions, negotiating results, and remaining calm and alert during emergency situations and heavy hotel activity. The Night Auditor will complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from the computer, promoting sales initiatives, and making appropriate selections of rooms based on guest needs. Other duties include verifying/swiping credit cards for authorization, handling cash, making change, balancing an assigned house bank, accepting and recording vouchers and other forms of payment, answering the telephone, verifying and balancing all daily charges, running nightly processing sequences, auditing food and beverage income postings, and processing all city ledger work to accounting.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have the ability to communicate in English
• Self-starting personality with an even disposition
• Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
• Must be willing to 'pitch-in' and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player
• Ability to use a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error
• Ability to effectively deal with customers, with high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers
• Ability to stand and move throughout front office and continuously perform essential job functions
• Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
• Ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations

Responsibilities

• Balance the guest ledger
• Record and balance staff and house charges
• Audit all banquet tickets before posting, verifying accuracy of the calculations and attaching the latest event order
• Process all city ledger work to accounting
• Perform any other job related duties as assigned
