About The Position

Federal Staffing Resources is hiring a NICU Registered Nurse (NICU RN / Neonatal ICU Nurse / Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse) to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, a premier military treatment facility serving active duty service members, military families, and retirees. This Neonatal ICU Nurse role provides specialized NICU critical care nursing for high-acuity newborns requiring advanced monitoring, ventilator management, and neonatal life-support treatment. If you are an experienced Neonatal Registered Nurse with Level III NICU experience, this is an opportunity to deliver mission-critical care in a federal healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state
  • Minimum 18 months Level III NICU experience within the past two years
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, PALS certification (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), BLS certification and S.T.A.B.L.E. certification
  • Experience providing NICU critical care and neonatal intensive care nursing
  • Ability to work in a military hospital / federal healthcare facility
  • U.S. Citizenship required for federal contract positions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Level III or Level IV NICU units
  • Prior experience working in a military hospital, Department of Defense facility, or federal healthcare environment
  • Experience using MHS GENESIS electronic medical record
  • Experience managing ventilated neonates and neonatal life-support systems

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced neonatal intensive care nursing for critically ill infants in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Deliver specialized NICU critical care nursing for premature and critically ill newborns
  • Monitor and manage neonatal ventilator support and respiratory therapy
  • Administer IV medications, neonatal IV therapy, blood products, and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
  • Utilize advanced neonatal patient monitoring equipment and cardiac monitoring systems
  • Respond to emergency situations using Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) protocols
  • Provide patient care documentation using MHS GENESIS electronic health record systems
  • Educate families on neonatal care plans and discharge preparation
  • Collaborate with neonatologists and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Maintain compliance with Department of Defense healthcare standards and clinical protocols
