Job SummaryJoin a talented group of more than 80 dietitians with Morrison Healthcare at the University of Virginia Health System in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675 bed inpatient setting, as well as in over 35 outpatient clinics. RDs participate in research and quality improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community service experiences. Continuing education opportunities are plentiful from within the accomplished nutrition team and from the health system which values ongoing training and education. This full time (40 hr/wk) position joins a collaborative pediatric nutrition team of 18 Registered Dietitians. In this role, the RD will provide comprehensive nutrition assessment, monitoring, and documentation for infants in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU), working alongside two experienced NICU RDs. The RD will participate in medical rounds with the interdisciplinary NICU team several times per week and will play an active role in educating residents, advanced practice providers, fellows, and dietetic interns. Additional responsibilities include contributing to quality improvement initiatives that support excellence in neonatal nutrition care. Earning the Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential is strongly encouraged within two years of hire.

Requirements

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or CDR exam eligible
Licensed Dietitian (or willing to obtain) in the state of practice as applicable
Healthcare experience preferred—new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

Clinical Nutrition Care: Perform comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop individualized care plans to promote recovery and improve health outcomes
Education: Provide guidance on nutrition and lifestyle strategies to support sustainable, long-term wellness to patients, families, staff, and the community
Evidence-Based Practice: Apply the latest research in alignment with the diet manual, company policies, and facility protocols to ensure high-quality, consistent care
Quality & Performance Improvement: Contribute to QAPI initiatives aimed at advancing patient care and clinical excellence
Collaboration & Service Excellence: Partner with the food service management team to help achieve patient satisfaction and service goals
Mentorship & Professional Development: Support the growth of staff and dietetic interns through education and training as applicable
