About The Position

We are looking for a Chief Hydrogeologist to join our team. The successful candidate will work with site and technical teams to ensure that the required hydrogeologic data is collected, compiled, analyzed, interpreted, and applied so that dewatering costs and timelines for operational requirements are communicated accurately to stakeholders and management. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in hydrology, hydrogeology, geology, mining or civil engineering (or similar) is required
  • Ten (10) years of experience in the mining industry is preferred
  • Familiarity with water well systems, groundwater hydraulics, and aquifer testing is required
  • Knowledge of advanced principles and practices employed in hydrogeology and hydrology required
  • Knowledge of regulatory constraints related to water management activities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze technical data pertaining to groundwater and surface water quantity and quality; climate data and drainage delineation; flood control; and water management and conservation
  • Compile planning and design analyses based on independent critical evaluations and make recommendations pertaining to hydrogeologic issues including dewatering, porewater depression, and excess mine water management
  • Prepare comprehensive reports regarding groundwater and surface water resources
  • Develop practical and novel water management plans and support implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance
  • Undertake advanced technical hydrogeologic analysis, making strategic operational and closure recommendations
  • Work with site and technical teams to ensure that the required hydrogeologic data is collected, compiled, analyzed, interpreted, and applied so that dewatering costs and timelines for operational requirements are communicated accurately to stakeholders and management
  • Undertake reviews of modeling, mine design and dewatering plans from a hydrogeologic perspective, identifying potential risks and opportunities
  • Ensure on-going communication and cooperation with site operational and technical teams to optimize the dewatering and water management plans and activities
  • Manage the formulation and administration of supporting consultant contracts, which may include use of computer models to evaluate hydrogeologic technical details
  • Liaison with various stakeholders (Federal, State and Local) to develop and communicate monitoring results, modeling results and mitigation plans for any projected potential impacts
