About The Position

The position involves fulfilling contractual obligations for a full instructional load during the fall and spring semesters. The role includes planning activities that enhance student learning and public exposure to the Northwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra (Junior Orchestra), as well as recruiting students. The instructor is expected to provide excellence in instruction within the jurisdiction of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and its education programs. Additionally, the instructor will assist in the development and evaluation of curriculum as appropriate, utilize approved textbooks and instructional materials, and collaborate with administration, faculty, and staff to ensure student success. Providing student guidance and support, engaging in institutional service, professional development, and completing annual mandatory compliance training are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in music or a master's degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Music.
  • Demonstrated evidence of professional development growth through participation in continuing education and other related activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success with online and class teaching preferred.
  • Strong classroom management skills in grades K-12.
  • Strong knowledge of stringed instruments required.
