About The Position

A Newsroom Intern at News On 6 helps drive the Ideal Team Player culture. The Newsroom Intern will assist and observe in the workings of a newsroom at Griffin Media and News On 6 in the Tulsa office.

• GPA of 2.75 or above
• Intern must have completed 60 credit hours toward their degree. Copy of official transcript must be uploaded with application.
• Intern candidates must be self-motivated and work well with others.
• Professional dress is expected at all times.
• Availability for internship up to 16 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Intern will learn basic producer skills including writing, researching facts, logging video, timing of stories and newscast, utilizing wire services, and prompter operation
• Intern will learn basic reporting skills including interviewing sources, logging video, writing stories, and appearing on camera
• Intern will learn basic web skills including writing and posting stories to News9.com, as well as using social media to post and gather news
• Further learning opportunities will be possible by shadowing different members of our diverse station
