About The Position
WCIV is seeking a Broadcast Director / Technical Director who will play a crucial role in directing fast-paced newscasts that involve multiple live shots, graphics, video animations, and the operation of multiple studio cameras. The ideal candidate will have experience directing and technical directing newscasts in a non-automated control room setting, ensuring a seamless production process. This position requires a strong ability to maintain production quality and aesthetics while managing the complexities of live television. As a Broadcast Director, you will act as a liaison between the production and engineering departments, ensuring that the production studio and control room are well-maintained and equipped for high-quality broadcasts. You will be responsible for maintaining daily communication and collaboration with producers, talent, and the production team to ensure that all aspects of the show are executed flawlessly. Your role will also involve participating in pre-show planning for special segments, providing guidance on sets, lighting, and shot blocking, and directing or acting as crew for newscasts, special studio, and remote productions. In this fast-paced environment, you will need to react calmly and effectively to the demands of live television, providing clear and concise communication and direction to management, producers, engineering staff, and talent. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to train less experienced production staff, fostering a positive team environment and contributing to the overall success of the production team.
