What You’ll Do As a Newscast Director, you will be the eye of the storm – a steady and strategic leader in the control room. Command the Broadcast: Masterfully direct domineering newscasts and special programming, including political segments, sports specials, lifestyle shows, and live segments. Orchestrate the Action: Serve as the central hub of the production, leading the control room team with clear, concise, professional communication to ensure a flawless, technically stunning broadcast. Shape the Narrative: Work in close collaboration with producers, anchors, and crews to provide creative input that elevates the look and feel of every story and segment. Innovate and Adapt: Utilize your expertise in production automation systems like Sony ELC while also having the flexibility to direct in non-automated environments. You’ll stay ahead of the curve, embracing new technology and fresh concepts to engage our audience. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. What You’ll Bring Experience & Experience: A minimum of 5 years of recent, hands-on experience directing news content in a medium to major market. Experience with automation systems is required Technical Acumen: A deep understanding of various newsroom and broadcast systems, with a passion for learning and adapting to new technology. Decisive Leadership: A quick-thinking problem solver who can maintain composure and provide clear direction in a high-pressure environment. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays, and in the case of breaking news. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $46.75-50.93 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
