About The Position

The News Producer at WMBB-TV is responsible for producing daily newscast items, determining the order of stories, writing content, editing video, and managing online postings. This role is integral to delivering compelling broadcasts in a dynamic news environment, particularly in a vibrant beach community known for its news coverage and award-winning journalism.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Minimum two years of experience in news operations, depending on market size.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Flexibility to work any shift.

Responsibilities

• Produces daily newscast items for broadcast across all platforms.
• Writes and orders news stories for the newscast.
• Approves scripts to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts.
• Edits video segments for inclusion in the newscast.
• Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms.
• Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites to enhance engagement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
