About The Position

Produce WAFB’s Emmy-winning, top-rated morning newscasts by building dynamic rundowns and leading live breaking news and weather coverage. Overnight shift 11:30 pm –7:30 am; college degree required. As WAFB Morning News Producer, you’ll help lead one of the highest-rated morning newscasts in the country and join our Emmy Award–winning team. You’ll build and execute a fast-paced, content-rich show that prioritizes breaking news and weather coverage, delivering accurate, compelling stories to viewers starting their day. In this role.

  • College degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging content across platforms

Responsibilities

  • Own the daily newscast from start to finish, stacking, timing, and producing live morning shows.
  • Drive breaking news and severe weather coverage, making quick, confident editorial decisions in real time.
  • Craft strong, clear writing for anchors and teases that keep viewers engaged.
  • Collaborate closely with anchors, other morning producers, meteorologists, reporters, and digital teams to coordinate content across platforms.
  • Edit video and build graphics to support storytelling and maintain a clean, professional look.
  • Maintain high editorial standards while working efficiently under deadline pressure.
