About The Position

We’re looking for a passionate, curious, and driven News Intern to join our team for Summer 2026. As part of a forward-thinking media organization, you won’t just observe—you’ll actively contribute to the storytelling that informs and connects our community across platforms. From breaking news to digital-first storytelling, this is your opportunity to experience what modern journalism really looks like.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age
Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate
Be at least a sophomore at an accredited college/university
Be eligible to work in the United States
Be available to work on-site at WPEC in West Palm Beach, FL approximately 15 hours per week for 10 weeks
Be able to start between June 1 – June 19, 2026
Have reliable transportation (housing/relocation is not provided)
Be passionate about local news, storytelling, and community impact
Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

Assist in researching, writing, and producing news stories for broadcast and digital platforms
Work alongside reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers—both in the newsroom and out in the field
Bring fresh story ideas to the table and help shape coverage that matters to our audience
Learn how to shoot video, frame compelling visuals, and understand what makes a story stand out
Gain exposure to control room operations and how live broadcasts come together in real time
