Impact TheoryLos Angeles, CA

About The Position

We’re looking for a highly motivated News & Global Affairs Content Intern to help us create short-form “newsbites” that our team will record and publish on a frequent basis. This role is ideal for a student with a strong interest in journalism, global affairs, political science, international relations, economics, or media—and who thrives on moving fast when news breaks. Your job: track current events in real time and turn them into clear, concise, and compelling copy—often same-day. If you’re the kind of person who refreshes multiple news sites before breakfast, you’ll feel right at home.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student (journalism, global affairs, political science, international relations, economics, or related field preferred)
  • Strong writing skills with an ability to be clear, concise, and fast
  • Excellent understanding of current events and global affairs
  • Comfortable working on tight deadlines and adapting to breaking news
  • Strong research instincts and fact-checking discipline
  • Familiarity with major news outlets (e.g., Reuters, AP, FT, WSJ, NYT, Economist, etc.)
  • Self-starter who can work independently and communicate clearly in a remote environment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in journalism, newsletters, or digital media
  • Experience writing for audio or on-camera delivery
  • Knowledge of geopolitics, finance, or international policy
  • Ability to work across time zones or outside standard business hours when news breaks

Responsibilities

  • Monitor breaking news and developing global stories across politics, economics, geopolitics, tech, and culture
  • Write concise, accurate, and engaging newsbite scripts (typically 30–90 seconds of spoken content)
  • Summarize complex stories into clear, digestible talking points without losing nuance
  • Flag important developments and suggest story ideas proactively
  • Revise copy quickly based on editorial feedback (speed matters)
  • Maintain a neutral, factual tone aligned with journalistic standards

Benefits

  • $18–$25 per hour, depending on experience and writing samples
  • Full access to Impact Theory University.
  • Two complimentary books: Radical Confidence by Lisa Bilyeu and Principles by Ray Dalio.
