About The Position

The News Editor is responsible for ensuring the overall staffing and operational success of the AVID video editing systems at WFXT Boston 25. They should be skilled in visual storytelling, teamwork, problem solving, and creativity. Must be willing to work all shifts and maintain a positive attitude, work well individually and with others in a professional manner. This position reports to the News Director.

Requirements

• Experience in visual storytelling and non-linear editing
• Experience with AVID or equivalent editing systems, server based ingest and playback systems, Microsoft office products, and file based ingest and playback servers
• Ability to lead a team of editors to manage a high volume of assignments on tight deadlines
• Ability to take direction from Producers, Assignment Editors, Reporters, and Managers
• Dependable and detail oriented
• Communicate effectively and work well with others
• Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision
• Must be able to work any shift for a 24/7 365 on-call including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Edit news content for all platforms
• Schedule editors to ensure proper coverage on all shifts
• Demonstrate operation of assigned editing software including but not limited to Avid, Aspera, LiveU Central, and Network Content Delivery Systems
• Search and download archive footage for editing and for delivery to photographers in the field
• Care for edit workstations by reporting discrepancies, hardware and software problems
