About The Position
KOMO is seeking an experienced main news anchor with a proven track record of excellence across all platforms. This role demands a solid broadcaster who is adept at managing live breaking news and other unscripted moments, whether in-studio or on location. The ideal candidate will showcase exceptional storytelling and writing skills, supported by a portfolio that demonstrates the ability to consistently create relevant and impactful stories. As a KOMO anchor, you will collaborate with your colleagues to produce content daily for television, digital, and social media, and must be prepared to engage with the audience consistently. In essence, we are looking for a seasoned broadcast professional who is also a contemporary content creator—a serious television journalist who is a digital native. To be considered for this position, you must provide evidence of both your broadcasting experience and your digital content creation skills. As a KOMO anchor, you are expected to lead by example and be a great citizen of the newsroom, adhering to the highest journalistic standards. The essential duties of this position include owning a content franchise, being a team leader, generating impactful story ideas, and producing enterprise stories for all platforms. You will also be effective at conducting virtual interviews and utilizing social and digital tools, while regularly posting content on assigned platforms. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
