About The Position

Gray Media is a large multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, owning numerous top-rated local television stations and digital assets across the US, including WMTV. WMTV, the NBC and CW affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin, is a highly recognized news station, having earned awards for its operations and community service. This position is for an evening anchor/reporter at WMTV, Madison's most-watched news station. It is a high-profile role that demands leadership and ambition. The successful candidate will contribute daily to elevating newscasts and serve as a station ambassador, championing community initiatives. The role requires making a daily and noticeable impact in both streaming and traditional content, mentoring team members, and demonstrating a willingness to evolve and embrace new approaches to news delivery.

Requirements

Minimum three years of newsroom experience
A college degree in journalism or a related field
Must have an established and responsible presence on digital platforms, including station website, social media, and streaming
Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (on digital platforms) and broadcast writing for television
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Proven news judgement
Ability to make ethical calls, balancing speed vs. accuracy, and ensuring integrity in our news reporting
Strong work ethic
Organizational skills
Leadership skills
Ability to work quickly, meet deadlines, multitask, and show composure, especially during breaking news
Ability to work long hours/overtime, weekends, and overnights when warranted for breaking news and specialized coverage
Ability to carry 35+ pounds of gear
Experienced in shooting and editing unique content
Expected to know how to MMJ, if needed
