About The Position

WDAM 7 - On Your Side - is looking for a primary news anchor and storyteller. The successful candidate will report weekly and co-anchor our 5:00 P.M., 6:00 P.M., and 6:30 P.M. newscasts Monday through Friday. They will also solo anchor the 10:00 P.M. newscast. Candidates must be energetic, driven, have solid news judgment, and have strong reporting and live skills. Candidates must be able to tell difficult stories and be creative - adapting to various news stories.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field.
• 5+ years experience in reporting and anchoring.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with video, camera equipment, Edius Editing, ENPS, and Social Media.
• Self-motivated and highly organized.

Responsibilities

• A leader in the newsroom and excels at breaking news coverage from the studio and in the field.
• Aggressive and consistent with coverage online and with social media on all platforms.
• Turn in special reports.
• Skilled to shoot & edit their own stories.
• Contribute consistently on Facebook, Twitter as well as Facebook LIVE and strong writing for the NEWS APP and website.
• Exceptional planning, developing story ideas, and creative storytelling.
• Self-starter, demonstrate urgency to their delivery, and possess very strong writing skills.
• Willing to work with young journalists.
