About The Position

The Newborn Hearing Technician of Children's Therapy Services department is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients served through the Erlanger Health System under the supervision of a department Audiologist. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and appropriate hearing screening to infants in the NBN of Erlanger Medical Center and Women's East Pavilion. They must comply with the standards as set down by the Joint Committee on Newborn Hearing Screening regarding treatment procedures and professional ethics. They must comply with standards described in the departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience working with infants less than 1 year of age.
  • As per state licensing guidelines per profession.
  • BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 Years of College.
  • Knowledge of hearing anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and/or indirect care of patients under the supervision of a department Audiologist.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide hearing screening of newborns.
  • Create a calm environment for the infant and handle the newborn with sensitivity.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding test procedures, results, and follow-up plans.
  • Comply with state requirements for reporting test results.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
