About The Position

Join Pediatrix as a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician to contribute to the early detection of hearing loss in newborns. In this role, you will conduct hearing screens in hospital settings after a baby is born, working on-site at one or more hospital locations. Pediatrix provides comprehensive on-the-job training, including annual certification accredited by the American Academy of Audiology, to ensure employees are proficient in improving early detection and encouraging timely intervention for hearing impairments. This position is part-time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays required
  • Entry Level Healthcare Industry experience
  • Computer proficiency and ability to perform accurate data entry
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and assignments
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently (95% of shift)
  • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds frequently

Nice To Haves

  • One to three months related experience
  • Experience working with infants preferred
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct newborn hearing screens, usually in a new mom’s hospital room
  • Help educate parents about the importance of the screen using video and printed tools
  • Enter patient data and validate hearing screens, as needed
  • Help to confirm or reschedule outpatient appointments
  • Follow up on any equipment issues
  • Train new staff
  • Perform newborn hearing screens
  • Verify insurance information with parent/guardian
  • Document hearing screen results accurately
  • Follow protocol for timely submission of billing
  • Follow protocol related to security and identification of infants
  • Follow infection control, safety awareness and other hospital, company, and program policies
  • Recognize potential problems and obtain assistance, when necessary, in a timely manner
  • Complete company and hospital orientation or classes, including patient privacy training
  • Complete and maintain employee health requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
