About The Position

A sweet, caring couple in the Financial District of Manhattan is expecting their first baby (due September 3, 2026) and looking for a kind and nurturing Newborn Care Specialist to help guide them through the first months of parenthood. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience with deep knowledge and excitement about newborn care and development. The NCS should be reliable, calm, proactive, organized and confident working independently while collaborating with parents. The contract will be for 4 months, with possibility to extend for two months through Feb 2027. They have one pet, a friendly, two year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on NCS experience with strong references
  • Newborn Care Specialist certification required
  • First-aid & CPR certification required (infant-specific)
  • Up-to-date vaccinations required (Tdap, flu, COVID-19)
  • Reliable, punctual, professional and strong communication skills
  • Valid passport & ability to travel
  • Available for 16 weeks on or around September 3, 2026
  • Available to potentially extend the contract through February 2027

Responsibilities

  • All newborn baby care, including:
  • Clinical Care: diapering, hygiene/bathing, umbilical cord care, monitoring for reflux/allergies/developmental milestones
  • Feeding Specialist: supporting a combo-feeding breast & bottle goal, including breast milk storage, bottle prep w/ pumped milk & formula, pace bottle feeding
  • Nursery Management: “ownership” of the nursery including laundry, cleaning/sterilization of equipment, inventory management of restockable items (diapers, wipes, etc) & keeping clean/organized, Note: there will be no ask or expectation from the parents for any laundry or tasks not related to the baby
  • Sleep Training: implement age-appropriate sleep hygiene with the goal of establishing a healthy, sustainable schedule as developmentally appropriate
  • Routine Structuring: establish daily schedules that support baby’s health & development
  • Solo Care: ability to take solo care of the baby during working hours – as mom’s recovery progresses and dad’s paternity leave wraps
  • Educating, guiding and supporting the parents along the way: every baby is different, but this is their first – they want to learn from your experience and be actively involved!
  • Travel: they do not have any trips planned post-birth, but if the contract is extended through February there is a chance for ~1 week of domestic or international travel. All expenses covered, daily stipend & additional hours beyond what’s contracted to be paid

Benefits

  • $1,000/day for: Sep-Oct: 20hrs/day, 7 days/week - includes overnights Nov-Dec: 16hrs/day, 5 days/week - includes overnights
  • Overtime to be paid for holidays worked in this timeframe
  • Note: $1000/day is the guaranteed minimum. The rate will not change with decreasing hours - the parents want to be able to confidently care for their baby full-time as the contract comes to a close
  • 5 vacation days for the contract (Sep-Dec 2026). No more than two days to be taken concurrently in September & October. To be discussed/planned in advance with the parents
  • 5 sick days for the contract (Sep-Dec 2026)
