About The Position

Palomar Health's New Specialty RN program is designed for experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) who are looking to transition into a new specialty area. This program will commence on October 21st and offers a unique opportunity for RNs to receive mentorship and guidance as they embark on their new clinical journey. The primary responsibility of the RN in this role is to deliver coordinated nursing care to patients or assigned groups of patients within a designated unit. This includes managing and supervising the day-to-day clinical activities associated with patient care. The RN will work closely with patients, their families, and an interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive care plans that meet the individual needs of each patient. In addition to direct patient care, the RN will supervise and direct the activities of various levels of nursing and ancillary personnel. This requires the use of professional judgment and discretion to ensure that all clinical activities are performed safely and effectively. The RN must adhere to the California Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing. The role also involves the observation and direction of patient lifts and mobilization, ensuring that patient handling is conducted safely and in accordance with best practices. The RN is expected to possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in standard office equipment and software such as Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint. Effective communication skills in English are essential for performing the duties of this position, as the RN will need to interact with patients, families, and team members effectively. The RN will also be responsible for following all Palomar Health policies, procedures, and applicable laws, while upholding the organization's mission, vision, and commitment to quality care.
