About The Position

Health Advocates Network is seeking a Psychologist for registry positions in Represa, California. The role involves providing mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, and treatment recommendations for inmate populations. The Psychologist will work collaboratively with staff and document all care provided, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and community practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year previous working experience as a Psychologist within the last 36 months.
  • Proficient in the English language with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association).
  • Required licenses, permits, and/or certifications in the state of CA.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as clinician-of-the-day for patient emergencies during scheduled work days.
  • Work cooperatively with staff from all classifications to enhance professional relationships.
  • Conduct initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history.
  • Perform clinically sound suicide risk evaluations and document findings appropriately.
  • Meet with mentally ill inmates for crisis intervention and psychotherapy.
  • Conduct clinical interviews at cell fronts in inmate housing units as required.
  • Identify signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders for assessment and diagnosis.
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological assessments effectively.
  • Write clinical reports regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment plans.
  • Consult on complex cases with supervisors and treatment team members.
  • Document all care provided, including face-to-face contacts and treatment team meetings.
  • Monitor inmate progress using Subjective Assessment Plan Evaluation (SOAPE) formatted progress notes.
  • Maintain ethical standards in psychological treatment modalities.
  • Perform mental status exams during face-to-face interviews.
  • Examine prior mental health records and other documents to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Establish collaborative ties with community programs and agencies as assigned.
  • Conduct mental health education and develop resources for mentally ill inmates.
  • Assist inmates in applying for entitlement benefits and community services.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) meetings.
  • Compile and analyze data from audits related to mental health program requirements.
  • Provide information to support staff for data entry regarding appointments and no-shows.
  • Consult with the Board of Prison Hearing and other CDCR staff as needed.
  • Provide information to relatives/caregivers with signed release of information from inmates.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and caretakers to enhance treatment delivery.
  • Maintain order and supervise conduct of inmates to prevent escapes or injury.
  • Provide input for implementing new treatment programs.
