Responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI), product sustainment, and product support activities for Electromechanical Systems (EMS) products. Responsible for transitioning new designs from low-rate production to full-rate production, supporting sustainment of existing products and processes, and resolving issues with field returns while ensuring overall product quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Reports to the Systems and Mechanical Engineering Manager and is based in Cary, NC with a 4-days onsite and 1-day remote work schedule. Ensures NPI manufacturing activities are coordinated among the functional teams (Systems, Mechanical, Electronic Hardware, Software, Quality, and V&V). Involved in new product launch, root cause analysis, issue resolution such as obsolescence or restricted processes, process improvements, relevant documentation, and implementing design changes to current production. Supports the transfer of new products from engineering to manufacturing following Simple by Design (minimization of design complexity), DFMEA, and PFMEA processes. Supports development efforts to meet product cost targets. Supports low-rate production and development of full-rate production automated test capabilities. Drives creation and release of all manufacturing documentation following the change management process including, BOM development and manufacturing drawings and procedures. Supports the obsolescence process in the manufacturing engineering role; support adherence to product sustainment compliance requirements (REACH, ROHS, etc.). Supports initiatives to improve production yield, reduce product variability, and reduce product cost. Leads the effort to track, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues escalated to engineering from manufacturing and/or end use customers using internal RCCA process methodologies; support implementation of identified product resolutions and/or enhancements. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with operations, engineering, supply chain, customer service, and quality team members; provides updates to employees laterally and vertically within the organization. Supports capture of capital improvements in manufacturing environments and following through implementation. Directs the preparation of manufacturing activities (plans, instructions, test) to meet product requirements with focus on safety, engagement, customer experience, profitable growth, and performance.
