About The Position

The New Product Estimating Engineer occupies an essential role in driving organizational advancement, with primary responsibility for the evaluation and estimation of strategic business opportunities presented by the Commercial Director and Sales team. This position is instrumental in supporting projects involving precision progressive metal stamping, micro insert molding, and complex sub-assembly solutions. The individual will collaborate extensively with New Product Development Engineers, network with suppliers to procure advanced materials and outside services, and provide critical support to Sales Engineers in the realization of innovative concepts. Through close cooperation with all departments throughout the quoting process, the Estimating Engineer ensures the accuracy of manufacturing proposals and drives the development of roadmaps of transformative products from initial concept through completion.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong skills in performing detailed numerical computations and preparing reports.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • At least three years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SOLIDWORKS.
  • Background/experience in data analysis.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of component drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience developing production plans, routers, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks or a comparable solid modeling CAD program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review quotes and manufacturing concepts to assess feasibility and accuracy.
  • Read and interpret part prints, specifications, and process requirements to understand project needs.
  • Interact frequently with New Product Engineers, suppliers, and customers to gather essential information.
  • Conduct research on innovative and emerging technologies to support new and sustaining projects.
  • Collect project-related data from multiple sources—including vendors, the engineering department, and the quality department—as well as supplier and vendor quotes, to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Determine appropriate manufacturing methods or consider alternative approaches as needed.
  • Regularly review new sales opportunities with the Commercial Director, NPI Manager and Sales team to align on project scope and objectives.
  • Maintain consistent, reliable onsite attendance as required by the position.
