About The Position

The New Patient Coordinator at UCSF Medical Center plays a vital role in enhancing patient care by serving as the administrative face of the practice. This position involves supporting various administrative functions, ensuring effective communication between medical staff and patients, and maintaining operational efficiency in an outpatient care unit. The coordinator is expected to provide excellent customer service, manage clerical operations, and adapt to changing priorities while working closely with clinical and management teams.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent with four years related experience; or college degree and 6 months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong computer skills, including experience with at least two Office-type software programs (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Proven ability to navigate through multiple patient records systems.
• Ability to analyze situations, prioritize, and develop solutions.
• Excellent customer service and communication/interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated experience in health care (medical, dental, or veterinary) in patient scheduling, insurance verification, or patient financial services.
• Prior experience with appointment, ancillary service, or surgical scheduling.
• Bi-lingual or multi-lingual capability (Spanish, Cantonese, and Russian) strongly preferred.
• Prior experience with EPIC.

Responsibilities

• Represent the administrative team as the public face of the Practice.
• Support practice operations and customer service recovery efforts.
• Maintain routine clerical operations and communications.
• Adhere to UCSF House and Telephone Standards.
• Facilitate and ensure the accuracy of information flow between medical staff and departments.
• Work at any UCSF campus as needed and scheduled.
