About the position

The New Mandates Manager will report to the Director New Mandates and Interplan Affairs. This individual will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the development, implementation, and successful execution of new mandates for the organization. The Manager will work closely with various departments, including sales, operations, finance, and IT&S to ensure that all new mandates are aligned with company goals, delivered on time, and meet client expectations. This position requires strong leadership, project management skills, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position is eligible to work onsite, remote or hybrid (9 or more days a month on site) in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the process of receiving, managing, and executing new mandates from clients, ensuring smooth transitions from initiation to execution.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams such as sales, legal, compliance, operations, finance, and IT&S to ensure a seamless mandate rollout and that all necessary resources and information are available.
  • Develop detailed project plans for each new mandate, setting clear milestones and timelines.
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on mandate progress, address any concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Continuously review and refine the mandate management process to increase efficiency and minimize risks.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all new mandates and provide regular progress reports to senior management on key metrics and project status.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with new mandates and ensure that they align with the company's compliance and operational standards.
  • May supervise and manage employees, delegating tasks, overseeing the execution of key responsibilities, and completing performance management activities.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of health insurance industry and how state, federal, and other regulatory mandates impact business operations.
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple mandates/projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Health Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in project management, business analyst, mandate execution, or related fields.
  • In lieu of degree, minimum of 8 years’ progressive, relevant experience within direct or related field.
  • Knowledge of compliance, regulatory standards, and industry best practices is preferred.
