A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below. Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety. Our New Graduate Nurse Residency is a year-long program designed to support new nurses during their transition into professional practice with competence, confidence and leadership skills while fostering lifelong learning and career development. The program includes: 18-28 weeks of practice-based orientation focused on hands-on clinical training, where new nurses work closely with experienced preceptors to build their skills gradually. Work beside your peers on Professional Development activities, including workshops and courses, and the completion of an Evidence-Based Project. Ongoing mentorship beyond the first year to continue professional growth and support. Please Note: Participants must pass the NCLEX and achieve a Registered Nurse license before the Residency Cohort start date. Provisional Licensure not accepted.
