About The Position

The New Graduate Nurse Residency StaRN program at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital is designed for recent nursing graduates to transition from academic settings to clinical practice. This year-long program provides hands-on experience, advanced clinical training, and mentorship from experienced nurse leaders, ensuring residents develop essential skills in patient care and critical thinking within a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Valid RN License or Graduate Nurse in the State
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • No previous experience needed

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment
  • Experience in patient monitoring

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses.
  • Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.
  • Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
