We are now accepting applications for the Unity Hospital Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Fellowship Program for December 2025 and May 2026 Graduates! The emergency department can be exciting and exhilarating. At Rochester Regional, we have some of the busiest emergency departments in the state, outside of New York City. Our ED fellowships, available only to recent nursing graduates, give you the opportunity to experience this fast-paced environment and determine if it's right for you. The ED Fellowship features: A full time, one-year commitment, six months of rotations on various units, six months exclusively in the Emergency Department, and the opportunity to work closely with, and learn from, an experienced nurse preceptor. Starts three times a year in March, August, and October (August grads).

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license in New York State.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members.
  • Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress.
  • Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication.
  • Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements.
