About The Position

WeRide has operated a self-driving fleet for more than 2,200 days. WeRide.ai Silicon Valley team is seeking a motivated Data Engineer to join our Metrics Team. This role focuses on supporting the development of L3+ Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and L4 Autonomous Driving (AD) Systems by building scalable evaluation frameworks and high-impact scenarios that drive continuous improvement in autonomous driving. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of business needs, data pipelines, and system behavior, with the ability to translate complex test data into actionable insights.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Physics, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Information Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Programming Skills: Proficient in C++, with a solid programming foundation and a strong sense of good coding practices. Familiar with common data structures and algorithms, capable of writing efficient and stable code.
  • Experience with development in a Linux/Unix environment, familiar with common development and debugging tools.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Proficient in big data processing and analysis, with expertise in SQL and Python programming. Ability to identify patterns from massive datasets and build effective evaluation models.
  • General Qualifications: Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A strong sense of responsibility, self-motivated, and able to perform well under pressure. Adept at analyzing problems from multiple dimensions with clear and logical thinking.
  • Passionate about the autonomous vehicle industry, enjoys challenges, thinks critically, learns quickly, and possesses a strong sense of responsibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent skills in metric design and analysis, with the ability to solve complex problems quickly.
  • Familiarity with the principles and applications of machine learning and deep learning algorithms.
  • Familiarity with open-source frameworks and simulation platforms related to autonomous driving.

Responsibilities

  • Create algorithms to evaluate the safety, comfort, and other performance aspects of autonomous driving systems to ensure their reliable operation.
  • Understand business requirements, delve deep into autonomous driving operations, map out business processes, and design data pipelines and metric systems to quantify the capabilities of the autonomous driving system.
  • Aggregate and analyze autonomous driving test data, perform deep-dive investigations into the causes of data variations, and identify system issues through data analysis.
  • Take responsibility for data visualization and the automation of reports to present data intuitively and support decision-making.
  • Efficiently extract high-value traffic scenarios from massive, unstructured test data to drive improvements in the autonomous driving system.
  • Utilize algorithmic models or rules to develop performance metrics and automated evaluation methods for autonomous driving algorithms.
  • Build a comprehensive framework for evaluating autonomous driving behavior.
