Job Details Serving the needs of Garfield Heights and the Southeast communities of Cuyahoga County since 1949, Marymount Hospital is a 269-registered bed acute care, faith-based hospital and became the first regional hospital to become a member of the Cleveland Clinic Healthcare System in 1995. Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital’s 2 East Unit is a med/surg unit dedicated to providing general medical care, as well as pre- and post-operative care, to patients requiring orthopedic surgical interventions, such as hip and knee replacements and fractures. The unit also specializes in treating patients with congestive heart failure, chest tubes, wound VAC’s and endocrinology disorders. Marymount Hospital's 2 South Unit provides general medical and post-operative care to patients requiring various surgical procedures, including hysterectomy, TURP’s, thyroidectomy cholecystectomy and debridements. This unit also specializes in treating patients with congestive heart failure, chest tubes, NG tubes, GI/GU abnormalities, wound VAC’s, colostomy care and endocrinology disorders. As a Registered Nurse (RN) Resident, you will participate in a year-long residency program, customized to fit you, your needs and your pace, where you will provide direct nursing care, be paired with a coach that guides you toward success, develop clinical judgement, cultivate excellent communication skills and acquire complex nursing skills. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be presented upon hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • New grad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in a residency core curriculum based on their individual learning needs.
  • Provides direct nursing care, alongside a coach, in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
  • Establishes and/or revises priorities for patient care activities based on the following: acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability.
  • Initiates and/or maintains interventions to assure continuity of safe/effective care for patients.
  • Responds to data indicating risk to individual's health and initiates action to correct, reduce, or prevent the risk.
  • Seeks supervision, consultation, assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Complies with established hospital/department personnel policies.
  • Uses communication strategies in order to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Documents in patient's medical record according to established guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
