Cardiology Step-Down Units - J71, J72, and J73 J71, J72, and J73 are cardiovascular step-down telemetry monitored units. The three units make up a total of 73 beds: J71-25 beds; J72-24 beds; and J73-24 beds. These fast-paced nursing units provide nursing care to a select medical cardiac patient population, which includes: Myocardial infarction Post cardiac intervention Chronic heart failure Dysrhythmia management Pulmonary hypertension A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. Document in patients’ medical records.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Certification upon or within first year of hire in Critical Care, ED or Special Delivery
  • Completion of an ONS Chemo/Bio Course within two years of hire in units where chemo is administered
  • Completion of a Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) upon or within one year of hire in Dedicated Trauma Centers and ED
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Provider Status Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of hire for NICU
  • Cancer-specific certification or demonstrated ongoing qualifying education in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Cancer Center or Cancer Clinic and/or Chemotherapy
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within one year of hire in ED settings
