About the position

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at HCA HealthONE Presbyterian/St. Luke's is a year-long program designed for new graduate nurses to transition from student to registered nurse. This program provides hands-on experience, advanced clinical training, and mentorship from experienced nurse leaders, ensuring residents develop valuable clinical and critical thinking skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses.
  • Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
  • No previous experience needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Other certifications may be required during employment.
  • Some travel may be needed for training.
