Hospital Units at UM Health-West: Cardiac Acute Care Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology Emergency Department Float Pool Intensive Care Unit Med-Surg Observation Unit Obstetrics (Child Birth Center) Operating Room/CVOR Ortho/Trauma Med-Surg Post Anesthesia Care Unit Post Surgical Unit Progressive Care Unit Surgery Prep and Recovery General Summary: This position offers practical experiences and opportunities for the Graduate Nurse to transition from the structured clinical environment of nursing school to the comprehensive role of the registered nurse. Working collaboratively with a registered nurse preceptor the Graduate Nurse will develop a greater understanding of the professional component of the role of the registered nurse as the coordinator of patient care. They will develop skill and confidence in performing a multitude of technical procedures in the clinical setting and have the opportunity to demonstrate the application of critical thinking process and communication with the RN.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Employee must pass NCLEX exam within 10 weeks of hire
  • If the NCLEX exam is not passed, the Graduate Nurse will transition into a Nurse Aide position if employment is continued
  • Current BLS certification required
