About The Position

Work Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am with an every 3rd weekend requirement Focus of clinical practice/care delivery and on own learning. Uses/applies evidence-based practice, accesses appropriate resources. Follows unit based protocols, documentation, pathways, etc Involves patient and family in care; follows model of care delivery guidelines. Conducts patient/family needs assessment; initiates and documents patient/family education, seeks guidance in advocating the patient/family needs when appropriate. Delivers care consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient centered care. The 6th floor is a Surgical unit specializing in the care of the patients before and after surgical procedures. Also supports medical overflow. Ratio: 4:1 - 5:1 The surgical patient population we serve includes but is not limited to: Hepatobiliary Colorectal General Surgery General orthopaedics (Total Knee, Total Hip, TMA, BKA, etc) Ortho spine GU (Cystectomy, Prostatectomy, Ileal Conduit, etc) GYN Head and Neck Overview of Department Services The 6th floor Team includes RNs, student nurses, PCTs and Exercise Technicians. We work closely with our rehab partners and have a dedicated therapy gym on the unit. Each service line has dedicated advanced practice providers as part of the surgical team to support enhanced recovery and complex patient needs.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
