About The Position

The University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is seeking new graduate nurses to join their multidisciplinary team. This full-time position offers a supportive environment and a comprehensive 12-month Nurse Residency Program designed to enhance skills and prepare nurses for success in their careers. The role involves delivering patient care under the supervision of registered nurses, participating in nursing processes, and adhering to institutional standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting during nursing education.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver care to patients and their families under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Participate in the nursing process by performing direct care activities required in daily nursing practice.
  • Document patient information in the medical record using the initials 'NG' after the nurse graduate's name as credentials.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with patient assessments by monitoring parameters outlined by the RN.
  • Identify, record, and report findings concerning the physical and mental condition of patients.
  • Assist with the implementation of nursing care activities as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
  • Provide direct patient care, including personal hygiene, positioning, ambulating, and feeding.
  • Perform routine patient care and administrative procedures, such as dressing changes and calculating intake/output measures.
  • Assist with patient admissions and discharges, including setting up special equipment and recording vital signs.
  • Gather equipment for intravenous therapy and monitor IV rates as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Document patient information promptly and clearly as per Nursing Documentation policy.
  • Administer medications under the direct supervision of an RN, if applicable.
  • Perform CPR as needed and follow infection control guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
